Director
With 14 years of diverse experience across the public and private sectors, including social infrastructure, defence, and transport, David Worsley is a Chartered Civil Engineer and the Founder of the practice. Prior to establishing the firm, David served as a Technical Director at Meinhardt Group, leading their Victorian Civil Engineering team.
David founded Worsley Consulting Engineers to directly address the engineering industry's most pressing challenges. He views the consultancy as an opportunity to rethink the business model of engineering consulting, focusing on value creation and a higher purpose. He champions a philosophy that prioritises understanding the 'why' behind every engineering decision, moving beyond just technical 'how' to deliver solutions that bring true benefit to clients and society.
His expertise in ground-plane engineering is complemented by a recognition of the importance of climate-aware advice and low-carbon design. He understands that engineering plays a critical role in society’s adaptation to climate change, and was previously a member of the Meinhardt Global Carbon Strategy Committee.
He regularly advises on climate adaptation and decarbonisation strategies in civil engineering and recently launched the WC3 Carbon App, Australia’s first comprehensive carbon calculator for Civil Infrastructure.
David has a proven track record of leading diverse multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects. He remains hands-on in project delivery, having served as the engineering lead for award-winning initiatives such as the 2022 AILA Winner Hampshire Road Civic Green and the 2019 AILA Winner Malop Street Green Spine.
